Regular membership is open to those with advanced doctoral degrees or equivalent in an area of science or medicine relevant to neuromodulation including but not limited to MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, EngScD, etc. It includes all of the benefits as listed above, including online access to all current and past issues of the society’s journal, Neuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface. Regular members may hold office, vote for elected positions, and serve on committees and task forces.

Some of the benefits of membership in the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) include:
Trainee/Student Membership is open to individuals enrolled in a training program that awards advance doctoral degrees, or provides other postdoctoral training such as medical residency programs, or postdoctoral fellowship programs. Members in this category receive all of the benefits listed above, but may not run for elected officer positions. Trainee/Student members are encouraged to volunteer for any of the NANS committees and participate in the Resident and Fellows Section. Members within this category receive electronic access to the society’s journal, Neuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface. Trainee members may vote for elected positions, and serve on committees and task forces but not hold office. Please submit proof of residency or fellowship status by submitting documentation from your university or a copy of your student ID.

Allied Health Membership is intended for licensed professionals who treat patients with neuromodulation and who are employed in a clinical practice setting, academic institution or equivalent. Individuals with any of the following degrees or designations are eligible for this membership category: P.A., RN, NP, CNS, PA, PT, OT etc. Members in this category receive all of the benefits listed above, but may not run for elected officer positions. Allied Health members are encouraged to volunteer for any of the NANS committees.

The Industry Membership category is open to industry employees who are directly involved in clinical and technical activities, education, research, engineering, and/or corporate leadership, and whose careers demonstrate a commitment to neuromodulation. Individuals who are chiefly responsible for sales and/or marketing are not eligible for membership in the Society. For the purpose of society membership, industry is broadly defined as organizations or companies that do not provide direct patient care and/or companies that manufacture and sell device, pharmaceutical, or other products. Regardless of job function or degree, industry employees will not be approved for any membership category other than Industry Member.
Benefits of Industry Membership Industry members have the same benefits and privileges as other members, as stated above, with the following exceptions: Industry members are ineligible to hold office, vote for elected positions, or serve on committees and task forces.
